Caring for your skin

As an esthetician, I frequently hear about women’s skin problems.  One of the more common complaints seems to be acne issues.

One thing I ask them is what they are using to wash their face.  The majority of facial cleansers are made with harsh detergents, like Sodium Laurel Sulfate, and they end up stripping the natural oils from the skin leaving it vulnerable to environmental damage.

I will suggest to them that they switch to natural skin care  products.  Using a facial cleanser that is more gentle – something like a castille soap.  I also recommend only washing at night to remove makeup and using a dry facial brush or loofah in the morning for a gentle exfoliation that won’t dry out or stress their skin, but bring more circulation to the skin’s surface.  The increased blood circulation to the skin’s surface will also supply needed oxygen, vitamins, and nutrients from the capillaries to the nearby skin cells, helping in the rejuvenation process.
