Organic Facial Serum
Most moisturizers and facial serums contain either mineral oil and other petroleum-derived oils, or oils that have been processed or heated during production which causes much of the natural plant nutrients to be destroyed.
Lauren Brooke Organic Facial Serum contains only cold-pressed, Certified Organic natural plant oils and is created without any heat. This deeply-absorbent oil blend includes several potent oils such as: Rosehip, Borage Seed, Sea Buckthorn, and Pumpkin Seed Oils. Combined, these oils create a unique and powerful Facial Serum which is anti-inflammatory and exceptionally high in Vitamins C, E, A, Essential Fatty Acids and plant-derived minerals to create deeply nourished, revitalized and balanced-looking skin.
Got Puffs?
Puffs? Is there something important about puffs?
Our answer is ‘Yes’. Why?
Because Mineral makeup can cause respiratory problems, especially if it has Titanium Dioxide in it. On a scale of 0-10 with 10 being the most toxic, the Environmental Working Group has rated Titanium Dioxide up to a 6 in powder products because of studies showing negative respiratory and cardiovascular effects that can even turn carcinogenic when it is in products that can be inhaled.
Because of these dangerous side-effects, Lauren Brooke Cosmetique powders have been specifically formulated without Titanium Dioxide. In addition, each Lauren Brooke Foundation and Facial Powder comes with a deluxe puff for easy application and to decrease the possibility of any powder inhalation while applying. So you can be assured that any Lauren Brooke product will be healthy for your skin, your body, and your health!
Loving your Colors
After finding their skin tone and exploring possible eyeshadow shades on women I’m doing makeovers on, I like to have them just look at the color options and tell me which ones they like.
I have found if you don’t like the color, even if it is supposed to be the ‘right’ tone, you won’t feel as good with it or enjoy wearing it as much.
There is one thing I love to think about from my A.P. English class in High School. After learning all year long about all the how-to’s and rules to writing with the english language, we were reading poetry from some of the great authors. A student commented on how these poems didn’t follow the writing and language rules and asked the teacher why these writers could break the rules we had just learned, but we had to write according to the rules. Her wonderful comment was, ”As soon as you know the rules as well as they did, then you can break them.”
My suggestion to you is similar: Now that you know the ‘color rules’on finding skin tones and the accompanying colors, you can use them when you want to, but sometimes you just need to find what colors make you smile and wear them!
Eyeshadow Shades
Once you have compared your skin coloring to color swatches or taken the color season test and found whether you are a cool or warm skin tone, finding eyeshadows that will compliment your own coloring will be much easier.
When looking for colors to compliment warm skin tones, focus on colors on the upper right side of the colorwheel which includes earth tones like yellows, yellow-greens, corals, and orange-reds.
With cool skin tones, the colors on the bottom left side will work best. Use colors with blues, plums, purples, blue shade reds, violets, and blue-greens.
A Hint of Color
Teenage girls are always interested in makeup. They want to be just like their mothers; wearing lipstick, eye shadow and mascara. In many cases, parents don’t allow their teenage daughters to wear makeup. They feel like makeup would make their little girls grow up too fast and attract older men (never a good combination.)
In reaching a compromise with their daughters, parents might consider letting their girls wear lip tint. Lip tints are not as bright as lipstick and don’t attract as much attention. These tints offer just a touch of subtle color to a girl’s face.
Skin Tones II
Each person’s skin coloring is unique and tones can vary quite a bit. Even children to parents and from sibling to sibling can have very different skin tones. This can make finding your true skin tone difficult, especially if you’re coloring is more subtle or neutral.
If comparing your coloring to silver & gold or white & cream didn’t work well, the a color season test may be helpful in determining your tone. The following link will take you to a color season test:

Good Luck!
Skin Tones
When looking at makeup, and especially eye shadows, many women wonder what colors they should choose for their skin tone. With so many colors and variations to choose from, it can be a little overwhelming.
The first thing to look at is what your skin tone is. Does it have more yellow or olive coloring (warm tones), or more pink or red (cool tones)? One way to find out is to hold silver & gold colors next to your skin, or wear something white and something cream colored (material swatches, clothing, etc.) and see what happens. If you’re skin is a warm tone, it will look better next to something gold or a cream color. Cool tones will look better with silver & white.
Caring for your skin
As an esthetician, I frequently hear about women’s skin problems. One of the more common complaints seems to be acne issues.
One thing I ask them is what they are using to wash their face. The majority of facial cleansers are made with harsh detergents, like Sodium Laurel Sulfate, and they end up stripping the natural oils from the skin leaving it vulnerable to environmental damage.
I will suggest to them that they switch to natural skin care products. Using a facial cleanser that is more gentle – something like a castille soap. I also recommend only washing at night to remove makeup and using a dry facial brush or loofah in the morning for a gentle exfoliation that won’t dry out or stress their skin, but bring more circulation to the skin’s surface. The increased blood circulation to the skin’s surface will also supply needed oxygen, vitamins, and nutrients from the capillaries to the nearby skin cells, helping in the rejuvenation process.
Pretty Peepers
I have always been a natural-type of girl. This isn’t to say that I am a tomboy, I like girly things like dresses and high heels, but I have never worn much makeup. A little bit of lipstick every now and then is about as far as I go. But recently I have been more interested in learning to apply makeup.
My sister is the complete opposite of me. She has always worn a full face of makeup and she considers herself an expert in its application. So of course I went to her when I wanted to learn how to wear eye liner. She was very helpful. She taught me how to lightly apply the liner and how to smudge it in to my lashes. The technique she showed me really brings out my green eyes.
Ingredient Watch: Neem Extract
Neem oils and extracts come from the Azadica Indica, or Neem, tree. Neem has been in use in India since 4000 BC. Ancient texts refer to neem as the curer of all ailments and is referred to by local people as ‘the village pharmacy’ because of its myriad of uses. The Neem tree is seen as good luck in India and is a key herb used in Ayurveidc and Unani medicine.
Neem is antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, antiseptic, and antiparasitic which makes it very beneficial to both natural skin care and cosmetic applications. With its Vitamin E and essential amino acids, neem oils and extracts contain moisturizing and skin regenerative properties which is ideal for vibrant, radiant looking skin.
